It started at around 1:50 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5.

At approximately 1:50 a.m., troopers patrolling I-684 in the town of Bedford initiated a traffic stop on a northbound taxi for an infraction of the vehicle and traffic law.

The operator of the 2019 Toyota Camry, identified as Begnauth Renseroop, of Queens, failed to comply, and led troopers on the chase, state police said.

During the pursuit, the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department broadcast a report of a stolen vehicle with a matching description. The vehicle was eventually stopped at the end of I-684 intersecting with Route 22. The sole occupant and operator, Renseroop, was taken into custody without further incident, said police.

Renseroop was charged with criminal possession of stolen property (a Class E felony), unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle (a Class A misdemeanor), reckless driving (an unclassified misdemeanor) and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

Renseroop was arraigned before the Town of Somers Court, and was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $3,000 secure bond.

Renseroop is next scheduled to appear before the town of Bedford Court on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
